Elena Hazanov, film director
Born in Moscow in 1977, Elena Hazanov has lived for 25 years in Switzerland, where she works as a filmmaker. In 2006, her second feature film La Traductrice, with Bruno Todeschini, was selected at the Festival du Film de Locarno in the ‘Filmmakers of the Present’ category. It was also selected in competition at the Munich and Edinburgh Film Festivals. In her own words, “Film output in former Soviet countries remains all too unfamiliar to Swiss and European audiences, which is why the festival founders decided to set up this annual event”.
